Dear Colleague,
Are line managers victims of inadequate training?
Line managers take lead or shared responsibility for people management in 90% of organisations, yet line manager training in areas such as absence management, appraisals and recruitment is often poorly attended and – according to half the HR respondents in our previous research* - inadequate.
IRS is conducting a survey on line manager training and would greatly appreciate your help.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this research.

FACT BOX
Findings from our *2008 line managers’ role in people management research suggests:
• HR practitioners believe that training for line managers should be compulsory, and that levels of training and support on offer are inadequate.
• Two in three organisations predict the role of line managers is set to change further in the next three years, so as to take on more HR functions.
